Role Description
The Senior Fullstack Engineer will form part of a small development team, working in an agile environment along a team of other full stack devs, product owners and data specialists. Together, we would be planning, analysing, as well as building features and technology that keeps us in the front line of travel tech. We’re looking for a self-motivated and proactive candidate that will bring our technology to the next level by merging front-end to back-end, not only in development but also in infrastructure. The candidate will be exposed to leading technology services in both Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, ElastiCache, etc), as well as Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery and ML) and will be responsible for assisting in migrating our API to a microservices architecture.
Duties
- Java based software development
- Web services development
- REST service development
- Feature and user interface development
- Technical support for API integrations by clients
- Develop and maintain data engineering infrastructure
- Come up with technical solutions with high level input from peers if/when necessary
- Code review and knowledge transfer with peers
- Bounce proof of concepts with the rest of the team
- Ensure that non-functional requirements such as security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability are being considered when architecting solutions
- Participate in POPI / GDPR due diligence tech audits
- Work closely with Product Owners/Business Analysts in providing input into business requirements from technical perspective
- Regression tests
Experience
- 5-8 years (senior) in development industry
- Experience RESTful service
- Experience in XML and JSON
- Familiar with Linux Operating Systems and confident in working in the console.
Skills
5-8-years experience unless otherwise specified:
- Java (Oracle certified professional Java certificate)
- Exposure to web development languages and libraries (jQuery, angular, html and CSS)
- MySQL
- Bash scripts (Linux console)
- Exposure to AWS infrastructure and services
- Google Cloud Platform (1-2 years) especially in services such as Big Query
- AWS (1-2 years) especially in services such as EC2, RDS, Elasticache, S3 and Cloudwatch
- Experience working in Eclipse IDE would be a nice-to-have
